Who we recruit for

Capability Jane was founded in 2007 on the back of compelling research, which found that 60% of highly qualified women want to work part time to remain in or progress their careers. A lack of genuinely flexible senior opportunities combined with a national skills shortage combined to drive the creation of Capability Jane as a recruitment company focussing on part time and flexible working roles. Capability Jane Recruitment fills the gap in the market for a specialist recruitment business that focuses on sourcing talented executives on a part-time or flexible basis to fuel the growth of ambitious businesses in the UK.

We are on a mission to create the marketplace for high quality, senior part time roles within business, enabling talented women and men who want to work flexibly to remain in, progress and return to their careers. We have created the largest database of professional candidates seeking £40,000+ part-time, flexible or job share roles in the UK.

Capability Jane Recruitment works with forward thinking organisations and high growth businesses who recognise the benefits of being able to access a different talent pool by providing genuinely flexible and part time career opportunities. We are working towards a world where flexibility, part-time and job sharing is the norm, not the exception and where organisations embrace innovative ways of working as a source of competitive advantage.

What we recruit for

Capability Jane Recruitment specialises in sourcing high calibre, part time and flexible candidates, predominantly at management level, including:

  • HR and recruitment professionals
  • Finance Directors/Controllers
  • Marketing
  • Sales/business development and Client Relationship management
  • Legal and Compliance
  • Project and Programme Managers
  • Operations and Business Management
  • IT/technology
  • In fact almost any management/executive role if it offers genuine flexibility.

Our Recruitment Services are entirely focused on part time and flexible working; we assist with permanent, fixed term contract, interim, job share and non-executive roles.

We are the first and only specialist recruitment firm that focuses specifically on sourcing senior executive job share partners. If you have not yet seen the innovative work we have been doing in this space please take a look at, The Job Share Project , we are very proud of our in-depth expertise and what we have managed to achieve.

Specifically for individuals, we provide toolkits for those looking to move to a job share arrangement. We have online webinars and tools to help develop your business case, set up and implement your job share partnership.

How we work

Our recruitment team work hard to unearth and create high quality part-time and flexible roles. We have a “no compromise” policy on the quality, salary level and flexibility of the jobs we work on. All of the roles we recruit for are either part-time or have a genuine element of flexibility to how the job can be done; and they are primarily for salary levels of £40,000+ (permanent), or £200+ per day (contract).

Once you have  registered with us we will let you know of any roles that may be relevant to your skills and experience. You will also receive our regular job alerts, bulletins and news of forthcoming events and webinars.

In addition, once you are registered you will be part of the Capability Jane community, where you will be able to access exclusive services from our partners to help you make that career transition or entry back into the workplace after a break. In addition you will receive invitations to our webinar programmes including tips and advice from coaches, expert advice on building your CV and LinkedIn profile and how to use networking in your job search.

We are also proud to be associated with many of the leading organisations Return to Work programmes and major organisations such as Morgan Stanley and Thames Tideway Tunnels have recently promoted their returnships to the Capability Jane community.

We provide candidates with visibility of the flexible working roles we are working on through our Job Search function. This is updated constantly, so if you do not find what you are looking for please keep looking. We often headhunt for specific or specialist skills which may not be listed on our site. To ensure that you have access and visibility of all of the opportunities we are working on please make sure you register your details with us.

Whilst we are making progress, part time roles are still sometimes difficult to find and we hope that by joining the Capability Jane community you will support our efforts and help us create the new world of working.

Returnships

The concept of Returning Professional Internships (Returnships) was pioneered and trademarked in the USA by Goldman Sachs in 2008, and many other large financial institutions have followed suit in including Morgan Stanley.

In 2014 Morgan Stanley launched their first Returnship programme in the UK and we worked closely with them to attract and engage with potential candidates to the programme. Since then we have succesfully worked with a number of organistaitons to help them recruit professional returners.

Returnships are usually paid contracts for typically 12 weeks. They enable individuals to work on commercial projects, based on their previous experience and areas of expertise. By the end of the programme, the employer then has the opportunity to offer a permanent role to those who have proven to be a strong fit to the organisation.

Finding a Returnship Programme can be an excellent way of returning to the workplace in a supportive and fulfilling way allowing you to test the water before fully committing to a permanent job.
