Our client is a not for profit organisation, they are looking for a Head of Finance to manage a finance team of 10 people, reporting into the CFO.

This is a pivotal role to ensure that robust financial strategies and plans are in place and compliant with accounting regulations in shaping the organisation’s future direction as they expand their services and locations.

Strong leadership skills are required as well as a commercial focus in order to ensure financial systems and processes provide the necessary rigour and responsiveness and are compliant at all times with legislative and accounting guidelines.    
You will be a professionally qualified ACA/ACCA/ACMA with a strong technical background and experience at a senior level either from Private or Public Sector but a charity background would be very useful.
Key to your success will be your ability to work at both a strategic level – including developing the medium term financial plan and at an operational level in driving service improvement.
You will also have excellent communication skills – written and verbal and the ability to influence key stakeholders throughout the organisation and work effectively with appropriate external bodies.
In addition, you will have excellent people management skills with demonstrable experience in leading and coaching your team.

Candidates will:

  • Be a qualified accountant, educated to degree level or equivalent with extensive post qualification experience
  • Display strong commercial acumen including financial modelling
  • Be experienced in managing, setting and monitoring budgets and financial management information, including developing and using management information
  • Have excellent communication skills and the credibility to work with a Trustee Board.
  • Be able to interpret, analyse and communicate financial information at an advanced level
  • Have a hands on style of management and have the gravitas as a head of department
  • Bring a high level of skill in dealing with technical accounting issues, tax and VAT
  • Have a clear understanding of Financial governance processes and controls
  • Have excellent IT skills with advanced excel and experience of financial accounting software packages

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of the Charity SORP
  • ERP system knowledge and development

Flexibility:  4 days a week
Salary:  £45-50K FTE
