Our client is a financial services institution, they are seeking a senior level person to develop and implement a supervisory strategy for a CCP, planning and leading the work of a team to ensure effective market functioning and financial stability. The role requires the regular processing of a high level of technical content in financial, risk and operational areas from which judgement-based decisions need to be made. This will be a job with a high profile and is a great opportunity for someone who already has knowledge and experience of supervision, markets, and/or the post trade environment. This person will be expected to act independently, apply analytical excellence and judgement, and be the recognised point of contact for and about the firm. Responsibilities will include:

·         Developing and implementing the supervisory strategy that will apply to one of the largest global clearing houses, including the identification, monitoring and mitigation of risks 
·         Leading and managing the supervision team for that CCP.
·         Leading the supervisory relationship with the firm, and making use of strong relationship management and influencing skills.
·         Developing and applying technical knowledge of risk management, central counterparty functions and associated regulations. Support in developing new areas of technical knowledge will be provided.
·         Working closely with the exchange supervisors at the FCA to ensure appropriate due diligence for new or novel clearing arrangements.
 
This post currently has direct management responsibility for three staff and reports to the senior manager of the CCP supervision team Essential
·         Ability to lead the development and implementation of a supervisory strategy for a high impact, systemically important financial institution.
·         Self-starting, strategic thinker, able to develop and lead a supervisory programme and manage a heavy workload without close supervision.
·         Strong team-working and management skills.
·         The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with external parties, act as a credible and professional representative of the firm, and be able to influence and deal with challenging conversations with senior staff at other firms and regulators.
·         Strong analytical skills; able to make assessments and informed judgements based on a large set of information sources, to prioritise analysis and responses effectively, and to communicate conclusions clearly.
 
Desirable 
·         Knowledge of associated areas such as counterparty credit risk, liquidity risk, governance or payments and settlement.
·         Knowledge or relevant experience of financial markets, ideally including swap markets, repo markets or exchange-traded equity or derivative markets.
·         Knowledge or relevant experience of the post-trade environment or the process of central counterparty clearing.
·         Previous experience related to operational risk or the oversight of technology change.

Salary:  c £68-90K FTE basic plus bonus and benefits
Location: City of London
Flexibility: 4 or 5 days a week with flexi-hours and occasional home-working
